Recent dog death comes as a warning to others that salt water kills.
A very sad reminder.
Its hot out!
And along with us dogs are hitting the beach, pools, and lakes.
Always keep them safe with fresh drinking water.
Salt water can cause damage to organs. Along with serious illness, such as vomiting, dehydration, diarrhea, coma, and even death.
Without a doubt salt water is deadly.
This includes salt water pools. While salt water pools may not contain as much salt, it still has enough to cause damage. Especially to pets with existing liver or kidney problems.
Drinking from a well maintained chlorine pool is harmless, although in large consumption may cause upset stomach. It should never be a main source of water.
Rivers streams or lakes can carry bacteria and parasites which after ingesting, could then cause giardia…..
When planning outdoor activities always take precautions.
Check with your veterinarian ahead of time for safety, prevention, and concerns.
Remember keep you and your pet hydrated with fresh water during these hot summer months.
